The Brothers Solomon

The Brothers Solomon has got to be the worst movie I have ever seen. It can not even be categorized into the comedy genre. It is aimed at the teenage audience. It is a raunchy-comedy movie someone would go see on a rainy day when there is nothing better to do. It stars two men off of Saturday Night Live. The main point of the movie was for the two brothers to make a baby before their comatose father died. They ended up being sperm donors, but in the end their sperm was not even good. The woman they got pregnant, ran off with the baby. She had a black boyfriend, and in the end, the baby ended up being black. The directing, acting, and plot of the movie just sucked horribly. It was a waste of my time and precious seven dollars.

DG Grab A Date

Tonight I went to the Delta Gamma Grab-A-Date. My date was Lucy Mercer. She asked me to go with her because I am one lucky fellow. We went bowling at a local bowling alley. We ate little snacks. We got to hang out with all her fellow sisters and a few of my fellow brothers. We got to wear these cool blue shirts and go bowling. I had a great time and can not wait to do it again!

Exams

Exam time is not my favorite time of school. I always intend on studying way ahead of time and be prepared, but it always seems it never works out that way. I always end up writing papers and cramming the night before. My University teacher always stressed that pulling all-nighters and staying up all night before a final or exam causes you to do bad on the test. The best way to prepare for a major exam or final is to study way ahead of time, read over all the chapters and notes, get a good night's rest, and eat a healthy breakfast. The good thing about exams is that once they are over, we can finally go home for Christmas break for a month. This allows me to rest and spend time with my family and friends back at home.

Text Messaging

i believe that texting is taking over the world. everwhere you turn around somebody is text messaging on their phone. it seems that our conversations these days are cut short due to texting. we have limited time and limited ways to communicate with each other. Texting is an fast and easy way to communicate while in a hurry or in class. Texting is also known to cause distractions, such as in a conversation or while driving. It can cause people to feel unimportant if you sit there and text while you are trying to converse with someone. It can also cause fatal accidents if you are looking down at your phone and texting, instead of looking up at the road and driving. But, it is very common among both teens and even adults nowadays. It is probably soon to be the number one way of communicating.

my passion

everyone has that one hobby or that one thing they like to do that just makes the entire world disappear while they are doing it. i consider this someones passion. for some people this "get away" is hunting or fishing, for some its sports, others it could be reading. i think everyone has this in them somewhere and when you find out what it is you will know for sure. i was lucky to realize early on that my passion was basketball. im not quite built for it and the odds definitely arent in my favor for the sport but all i know is that i love it. ive never worked so hard at anything in my life quite like i have for basketball. i played all through highschool and my love for the game grew by the day. to this day there is no other feeling to me than playing a good game of pick up with friends or people ive never met before. i tend to relate everything i do to basketball bc its what i know best. i plan on being a coach one day and i am well on my way to becoming a successfull coach one day.

Facebook

I think facebook is nothing but a legal drug. it is without a doubt just as addicting as any other drug on todays streets. if you know of a college student without a facebook account this person probably has straight A's. i can not tell you how often i catch myself and others on facebook when they should be doing schoolwork. in an average classroom you can look around and i am willing to bet that 50% of the computers open have facebook up on them, i know i am guilty of it. the worst part about it is that it is not intentional to put off work and start facebooking but it just kind of happens. when you look at your computer its like without thinking your hans automatically start typing URL in before you realize what you are doing. i am not saying that facebook should be banished or anything like that because i think that suicide rates would skyrocket if this were to happen, im just simply expressing my opinion on the topic. now i have to go bc im waiting an important facebook message...ttys

FFC

the food in the fresh food company that we eat every day, sometimes multiple times a day, needs to be improved in quality. i have good reason to believe that nobody had informed the workers that soaking food in butter for several hours while serving it is not a good idea. we have very few healthy options when eating there. sure there is a salad bar but one can only eat salad so much. they seem to also think that when you have extra meet of some kind, and extra bread of some kind, that you should put them together and make a new sandwhich that is disgusting and unhealthy. there is a sandwhich line where you can custome make a sandwich and this is good because of the option of eating wheat bread. this is along the same lines as the salad, sandwiches get old after three meals a day of just sandwiches. they serve a good bit of pastas also and i have yet to see anything made with or the option of it being made with wheat pasta. these are a few changes i think that would be easy to do and very beneficial to everyone.

Speech class

i went into the SCM 111 class that i am in now nervous and anxious. i did not know how i would do with public speaking when it was for a grade. normally speaking in front of people does not bother me, ive done it quite often since 7th grade. the fact that i was being evaluated by a teacher and my grade was riding on it suprisingly through off my confidence and made me more nervous than ever. my first speech i gave i was stuttering and missing lines because i was so nervous. i have since then given 3 speeches and this nervousness has pretty much gone away completely. i now have to give a speech in two days for a final grade and i do not get nervous or anxious at the thought. i am actually glad to be giving a speech rather than taking a test for once this semester. this was a big accomplishment for me this semester and i am glad that i had this experience.

brotherhood retreat

Recently I went on one of the best retreats ive ever attended. I have been on several long, drawn out, well planned retreats and still none compare to this one. it was not planned out or had an outline of what needed to be discussed but instead was more just open to discussion about whatever needed to be talked about. most would think amongst a large group of fraternity brothers that the focus of an open retreat like this one would be mostly on negatives of certain people and situations. though there were some negatives brought up the majority of the discussion was positive and very uplifting. Everything bad said was then turned into an oppertunity or way to fix something. this retreat was definitely an experience i was not exspecting but i am glad it happened. it was a great experience and i can not wait for the next one.

Its about time

I have recently reached one of my goals i set for myself a long time ago. Last night I got my little brothers for my fraternity. This is important to me bc my big brother has a great impact on me. This is also important to me bc not everyone can get a lil bro. You must be what we call "ritual proficient". This means that you can recite and act out certain parts of Kappa Sigma ritual by heart. This is a very long process and takes many hours of studying and practicing to do. I have been working towards this for a while so last night when I was tested for my proficiency and passed I was pretty excited. After the whole lil brother process i pretty much just passed out, until noon today bc i have not slept in 2 days, literally. So now im just trying to get my life back on track and play catch up.

Bad Timing

I was supposed to have this written up by 12 midnight and i just woke up from a much needed nap to realize its 12:23 pm. the reason am waking up this late is because last night i was in an accident and ended up getting a concussion which means i couldnt sleep for 20 hrs. Once my 20 hours was up i knocked out and just woke up so there is really nothing to talk about either. hoepfully by next week i will have something a little more interesting to talk about.

boring

I have been trying to think about what to write about pretty much all week. I still have nothing interesting or entertaining to write about because my week has been full of papers and tests. I know I really would not like to hear about someone elses school work because i know everyone has their own. right now i am am just watching this dumb show called The Hills and it kinda makes me greatful im broke. I think that the one bad thing bad about having money would be that you could possibly turn out like them, bc without being rich you couldnt live their lifestyles which brings about their attitudes. I really cant think about anything to talk about so im going to take up a little more time telling you how i cant think of anything.........ok so im still blank so im going to give it up. peace

Computers Hate Me

It all started when i tried to start this blog for a class im taking. I went to write my first entry and i had some trouble setting the blog up itself. It slowed me down a little but I finally got it figured out and was ready to write. I then went back to my house to do my work for the day and when it came time to write my blog I opened my computer as I sat in my recliner and all I saw was a black and white checkerboard looking mess where my screen used to be. Turned out that I had a virus from downloading music and my computer had to be completely emptied and I was late writing my blog. Two weeks later I get my new computer and just my luck I could not get internet for some reason on campus. After many hours in the itech office I finally was ready to go and was pretty excited about it. I wrote my blog on time and had no issues and I got to comfortable. My bad luck came back last night when I went to write my blog before midnight and sure enough I had some kind of software that came with the new computer that was blocking me from signing in on blogger.com. So this puts me in the library now frustrated and thinking that im never using a computer again!

My long night

After watching the Colts have their way with the Saints for a little while and completely dampering the mood for the time being my potentially fun night was in jeopardy of ending on a bad note. After a while everyone in the house who watched the massacre (Colts vs Saints) kind of put it behind and decided to go on with the night and have a good time. A few hours later the house was jumping and everyone was having fun. As 2 am roled around everyone started heading home and I was very ready for bed. As always with intoxicated young people a little drama started and we were able to get rid of them dramatic drunks by about 3 am. I then realize that we had a housing inspection bright and early the next morning at 8 am. I got a few of my brothers who said they would help me if I got them up bright and early at 6 am. If you do the math between 3 and 6 is only 3 hours of sleep. I wasnt sure if I was going to make it but some how I was able to get up with a few guys and clean the house up just in time. This means I am going to have a very long but productive day because I had such a good start but then again, it is Friday! Have a good and safe weekend everyone!

my close call

So today was pretty much the same as any other day until I was going into my 2:25 English class when I got a phone call from my fraternity brother Derek. He told me that he was leaving the house to go to his class and that a lady from parking management told him to find the owner of the blue Expedition that was illegally parked on the side of the house. That owner would be me. I couldnt be late to class but at I am way to broke to get my truck towed. They said I had about five minutes and they were going to have the tow truck tow me. Luckly recently I made the decision to buy a bike to ride around campus on. I hopped on old faithful and took off for the house. After nearly getting plastered onto the side of a red explorer at a cross-walk I made it to the house as the tow truck was backing up to my vehicle. I convinced the driver to leave and let me move the truck. Even though he was hesistant I talked him into just telling parking mangement that my truck was moved before he got to it. I moved my truck and actually made it back to the College Hall as my class was starting. This small three minutes out of my day actually woke me up and made my day a little more interesting.
